The Diploma in Hospitality
Management with a lean towards B&B has recently been launched for potential or existing operators in Bed & Breakfast industry.
Advanced Careers College, located on the Central Coast (Gosford) NSW, Australia will be running the VETAB accredited Diploma of Hospitality Management
throughout Australia and New Zealand. The
next course is due to commence November 2005.
Course delivery will consist of a combination of limited face to face teaching, self paced, long distance learning resources and practical, hands on experience with carefully selected B & B owners.
This internationally recognized Diploma is the first of its kind to specifically address the unique needs of the Bed & Breakfast industry. The course will not only coach students in the management of a bed and breakfast but also that of a hotel or motel. It provides comprehensive knowledge of the Hospitality industry.

| Certificate IV in Bed &
Breakfast :
This course is ideally suited for people who have not managed a small business before, and for those already in the industry who wish to up-grade their skills as required to operate a successful business.
Many people now realise that we are in the Information Era where the rules of commerce demand a different set of skills from those in which most of us were trained.
This Certificate IV course has 10 modules consisting of 20 hours each and covers the following areas: Introduction into Bed & Breakfast, Bed & Breakfast Management, Insurance & Licences, Cost, Profit and Breakeven, Business Plan Development, Marketing Plan Development, Business Finance, Ownership Structures, Computer Operations, Business Law and Customer Service.
Notation:
Most lecture venues, dates and times are set one term in advance and often on a demand basis. Sometimes courses are cancelled if the student number quotas are not met. In this situation, the learning faculty contacts all those who enrolled.

The above course is run by the University of Melbourne - Institute of Land & Food Resources. This is basically a TAFE subsidised course.
Cost: $252 (Inc GST, course material, lunch, morning & afternoon tea.
